The book that I was thinking of is not "On Divers Arts", but rather a
book that is an excerpt from Denis Diderot's "'L'Encyclopedie, Ou
Dictionnai".  The modern book consists almost exclusively of plates
showing the processes that were involved with many different crafting
processes.

There is also a book that is the architectural plates from the same
Diderot work:

I have not seen the architectural plates, but those of you interested
in permitting craftsmen to build buildings might be interested.
