Right, like in most muds. People are playing against each other on all but
the heaviest roleplaying muds. They don't get pissed off personally when
their character dies because they care about the 'pain' their charcter is
feeling. They get pissed because it affects them personally. 

I don't really see a difference between 'Thresh' the person in the Quake
community and 'Thresh' the player in a mud. In either place, he is
identified as Thresh and is known by his actions within the world (whether
it be a mud or the world of Quake communities).
