Correct, adolescent gamers were significantly more likely to
sacrifice their education or work (1 out of 4) in order to play
EverQuest. At the same time adults were significantly more likely to
sacrifice socializing than adolescents.

Both factors play an important role in the later analysis. The
research team considers the sacrifice of other activities and the
play frequency together with other factors as signals that some of
the online gamers participating to the survey were experiencing
addictive like in other types of video game play. Interesting is
also the speculation that EverQuest (like other online games) could
be more addictive then offline video games due to the competitive
and co-operative aspects of the game.
