Mankind? What's that? Never existed. :)

Mankind was probably the first MMORTS attempt, yeah. It suffered
(imho) from a lot of flaws in basic design, looking more like a
simple adaptation of a classic RTS with umpteen players thrown in
together.

Mankind is also a good example of what not to do. The editor, Cryo,
did bear a lot of responsibility, but launching a game commercially
when your user interface is not even complete, and half the features
missing is a bad move. A lot of the community got soured on
that. And this is probably why a lot of people don't even remember
there is such a thing as Mankind.

I don't know where they stand today. The breakdown of Cryo probably
hurt them a lot. Their new game, Squad Tactics (an
MM-counterstrike?), looks defunct: the domain name expired and is no
longer valid. The game itself looks still played, but it's no longer
on the shelves here in France (and it hasn't been for over a year).
