Fortunately, I have a couple of ex-Simus down the hall.  According to 
them, they don't recall any weddings being sold by Simu for more than
$1000 bucks.  That was also a grand wedding.  Typically, people would
choose the more budget-oriented wedding, which usually came in at about
$100-250 bucks.  They also noted that even at $250 a month, demand 
vastly exceeded supply (i.e. GM resources to perform the ceremony).

The number that you mentioned ($25000) actually probably refers to a
character that was sold from one player to another.  This was long 
before UO, Ebay and EQ ever existed.  It was also back in the GEnie,
six bucks an hour days.  One only has to think momentarily what that
kind of price tag on gametime has to do to the value of a character,
or the amount of cash that is considered trivial to blow on a wedding.
