:Well yeah, sort of.   It's a genetic mutation that is a further step 
:on the chain of OS evolution.  Kind of like a transition from homo 
:erectus to homo sapiens neanderthalis.  While erectus used simple and 
:blunt tools, neanderthalis used more complex assemblies of tools.

And to make sure the analogy is perfect... Homo Neanderthalus isn't sapiens
at all. More recent techniques have made it pretty clear they were not even
close to the same species as us, and that they were an evolutionary deadend
on a massive scale. Sounds about right to me...
